Jammu & Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (J&KEDI), a pioneering institute of entrepreneurship development in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, is playing a major role in providing a pro-entrepreneurial environment to foster the progress and prosperity of the state. The raison deter of this institute is to assist the Government in formulating and implementing its policies for entrepreneurship development by helping the practicing and potential entrepreneurs through a host of services like research, consultancy, information, training and education. The institute offers an effective platform to the existing and potential entrepreneurs to share their experiences for common good, discuss their prepotant issues and in turn gain wisdom enabling them to street their ventures towards profitability. Established by the state Government in March 1997 as a society of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, the Institute started its regular activities from Feb, 2004. The Institute has established its two regional centers at Srinagar and in Jammu. At Srinagar Institute presently operates from the premise of Sempora, National Highway,Pampore, Srinagar and in Jammu office is situated at Ground Floor, Jawahar Lal Nehru Udyog Bhawan, Rail Head, Jammu. The Institute has the facilities of well furnished & spacious auditoriums, lecture halls, computer labs with books, reports, core journals, project profiles, periodicals, videos, reference work & related literature books.

The Institute receives a substantial financial support from the central as well as state Government for the development of infrastructure and carrying out its activates, however in the long run Institute endeavors to emerge as financially self reliant.

Since its establishment, Jammu & Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute has made a great headway towards the fulfillment of its basic obligations and recorded significant achievement on this account. Institute renews and redesigns its activities from time to time to suit to the changing needs of the potential as well as existing enterpreneurs in the wake of the dynamics of the economic environment.
