“The post liberalized era of market economy has unfurled multidimensional challenges to both planners as well as business world. Although, opening up world economies has unfolded novel and diversified opportunities but it has also resulted in dwindling of jobs in Government Sector and PSUs. In this set up private enterprise has to play a dominant role for the economic development and social welfare of the country.

In this world, entrepreneurial drive plays pivotal role in order to capitalize on the opportunities offered by new market forces. Unfortunately, the subtle level of entrepreneurship coupled with low to moderate level of infrastructure has resulted in exasperating problem of unemployment, no optimal resource utilization and underdevelopment in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. It is now, increasingly being realized that these problems can be tackled through the development of a strong industrial base to generate sufficient demand for the primary sector and optimal allocation of resources.

Recognizing that the level of entrepreneurship is crucial for the economic development, panacea to the problems faced by our economy including ever-increasing unemployment and insufficient capital formation, the state Government established J&K EDI with the noble mission to stimulate, develop and sustain the spirit and culture of entrepreneurship.

We at J&K EDI, since inception, are striving hard and foster entrepreneurial spirit at all level and across all sections to develop over-all competencies and capabilities to nurture and sustain entrepreneurial culture. However, in order to achieve or mission we realize that such a gigantic task can only be accomplished through collaborative efforts of various support and funding agencies.

I take this opportunities to invite all the agencies involved directly or indirectly with the development of entrepreneurship to collaborate with us in this noble cause. At this moment I feel pleased in inviting the prospective entrepreneurs to join our programs to enter an exciting field of prosperity and growth.”
